Good Vibes, Better food, Great Guitars (Singapore Pt. 2)

If you’ve been following my blog, you would know that I had the opportunity to attend the Getty Music’s Sing! World Tour (Asia) in Singapore. Read my last blog HERE.

Besides the conference and the concert, I also had the chance to see more of this beautiful country, relax and spend time with some friends. I’d love to share some of the things I enjoyed while I was over there.

The Commute

One of the things I enjoyed was how convenient (and affordable) their public transportation system is. The train was my primary way of travel and would recommend to anyone who are looking to visit. Fortunately for me, both the train (MRT) and the bus works identically to the Underground train (Tube) and bus in the UK, which made it very easy for me to adapt. Needless to say, it felt just like home.

The Scenery

If you know me, you’ll know I enjoy sight-seeing. There were many impressive architecture and gardens such as the “Gardens by the Bay” and the “Singapore Botanic Gardens”. If you’re ever in the area and want to walk around in a quiet secluded place surrounded by trees and plants, away from the city, I suggest these places. But perhaps beware of the heat of the day.

Maestro Experience Center

One agenda I had on this trip was to finally make it to the Maestro Experience Center, where the boutique acoustic guitar brand Maestro keeps their largest collection of their models, shapes and combinations of wood in one room. Having recently joined the Maestro family recently, I’ve been very impressed the level of craftsmanship and sound quality of this company. I had my hands on many different wood materials that i’ve never had the chance to play such as Brazilian Rosewood, Santos Rosewood, and my favorite that day, Mango wood, yes the fruit tree. They’re also know for using other tropical fruit trees on their products such as Lychee and Longan trees. Unfortunately, they were on their way overseas, so I missed them.

My attendance was kindly received by their on sight staff who were very friendly and helpful in every way. Shout out to Lionel and Darren. If you’re family with their work, I highly recommend their instruments. Visit their website to see their dealer locations in Asia, Australia, UK, Germany, Switzerland, USA and so many more.

Mike Wiens 🍽

Welcome to a segment of my blog I’m calling “Mike Weins” where I share with you some of the delicious meals I come across on my travels. I feel fortunate to have the chance to dine at two different Michelin Star restaurants on this trip. First, we have “Hawker Chan” in China Town. This place is know for serving the cheapest Michelin-Starred meal in the world, definitely worth a try. Our second location is “Chen’s Mapo Tofu” at the Star Vista, which received the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2019, 2021 & 2022. What more can I say?
